Which advertising metric are you using to judge cheapness?

Generally, Yes.

However, cheaper in what way?

  • Cheaper per CPC (cost/acquisition)?
  • Better ROAS (Return on Ad Spend)?
  • Cheaper CPM (Cost per 1000 Impressions)?

Do online advertising & print advertising have the same output?

Asking if one form of advertising is cheaper than another form implies that they have equal performance.

You could get more impressions for less with a FB, Google Ads campaign, etc than an industry magazine ad, but will it get you more calls or customers? Not necessarily.

The better question to ask when choosing an advertising platform

Instead of asking which is cheaper, successful business people ask, “Is this effective in achieving the goal?”
